Miss Georgia Caribbean 2004, Junia Joseph

Proud. Ambitious. Dedicated. Those are just three of the many words used to describe the first ever Miss Georgia Caribbean Queen.

Born and raised in Fort Lauderdale, Florida to Haitian parents, Junia Joseph has always proudly identified with her Haitian lineage. As the fifth of six children, her parents have raised her to stand tall in the face of those making insulting and disparaging comments toward her culture and people. The same fire and passion Junia displays in representing her Haitian roots carries on to her representation all of the Caribbean nations as she proudly serves as Miss Georgia Caribbean 2004.

The winning of this prestigious honor is a duty she takes seriously and will use her title to make a difference in the Caribbean community throughout the state of Georgia. Junia holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Telecommunications from the University of Florida. She continues to reach new academic heights at Georgia State University where she is pursuing a Master of Arts Degree in Communications with a concentration in Film/Video and Digital Imaging. Her desire to stamp out the inaccurate myths and destroy the negative stereotypes of Caribbean people was a major factor in entering this pageant, but also correlates with her goals in life. Junia’s future career plans include writing, directing, and producing in the Television & Film Industry, creating quality children’s television programming and films that portray Caribbean people positively. The time has come for the Caribbean region to be recognized and respected as part of the world that breeds intelligent, talented, hardworking, and undefeatable people.
