New Release: Highlanda Summer 2003 Volume 1

Highlanda, Atlanta's top rated sound system has released its latest CD Summer 2003 Volume 1. I hopped in the car for a review session and I must say it is rated HOT and definately warrants two thumbs up. In particular, the selections are hott! What I love about the CD is that the rhythms are nicely mixed together with pulsating sounds of reggae and soca, providing a sexy summer feel.

Summer 2003 Volume 1 features two of Atlanta's hottest artists, Shooks & Ras Val, also Headly Shines formerly of Born Jamericans, and artist Tings Change's (T.C.) explosive tune 'Highlanda Property,' is wicked, and earns massive forwards. Also in the mix are some of the ladies of dancehall, Chrissy D, Tanya Stephens, & Lady Saw.

A delight to commuters, trust me, it gives you just the picker-upper you need to start or end your day- it will have you jamming in rush hour traffic. I caught myself in an intense winin' session pushing back my bumpa, and at other times I could not help but forward a tune thus beating down di dashboard.. Yeah man it ready!

Recorded live in Marietta the CD provides hours of juggling/dancing vibes with superb mixing, clean and precise. Rhythms seem to flow together effortlessly.

The God bless segment built up the vibes from 'Untn Zion' by Ras Shiloh. Mixology specialist Kahlil Wonda at his best on turntables rinses back to back Sanchez and a set of 'meditation' tunes catering to the mothers and empresses courtesy of Garnett Silk, then, in comes Sizzla Kalunji's 'Just One of Those Days' and the vibes tek off. The Wonda drops in some Warrior King and Anthony B, giving the people what they NEED, not what they WANT, and the segment lines up the JAVA riddim nicely. Uh-hUh! A classic Wayne Wonda on the Java gets featured while Super Pec holds the vibes and lets the people know what a gwaan roun' ere. More Java! More Wayne Wonda specials!

...and the mixing continues, TedroStarr -kill dem from far- ropes in and drops some chunes: Not an ordinary thing, trust me vibes inna di place. "Entertainment RUB-A-dUB Stylee. Highlanda Stylee!" 'Summer 2003 Volume 1' then goes into this year's Kashmir Riddim tunes, TIME TRAVEL and All-OUT Riddims. Its Straight Vibez from this point. Bass and more Bassline and we are 'good to GO'!

Easy Super Pec, Kahlil Wonda and TedroStarr, Top Rated, Highlanda Sound. CHECK THE CD and experience the HEat of Summer 2003 VoLuME ONE!
